Fitness Sport Of Golf

You cannot hope to improve your game if you don't keep
your body supple. In order to swing your club your hips,
body and shoulders have to move through an extreme range of
movements and the muscles for each area need to work in
conjunction with one another in order to create an accurate
and powerful swing.
Exercises are therefore invaluable and if you can practice
in front of a mirror you'll be able to look at your posture
and, after all, it's our posture that keeps us looking
young. Always make sure that you're well balanced and you
are keeping your knees in line with the center of your
feet. Be careful that you don't over arch or round your
back; think 'posture' all the time!
Many of us tend to launch into a program that would have
been great for us twenty years ago but is just too
ambitious now. Our bodies start to rebel and we become
disillusioned and within a few weeks (or even days!) we
start making excuses. It's much better to start with a trip
to the doctor to check you over and to give you the OK for
a program that will be realistic!
Many of us start a new training program off with the best
of intentions but fall by the wayside. Very often this is
because we've overstretched ourselves and the exercise is
painful and not much fun. We make excuses but we know in
our heart of hearts that this is a failure and we don't
like failures! You need to visualise what you want. It's
not being vain to spend time on your own body; by
visualising a perfect swing and powerful drives you will
also visualise yourself as fit, strong and lean. Spend
time on this because unless you can totally convince
yourself that this is what you want, your exercise program
will fail. If you really, really want to improve your golf
(and your body) powerful visualisation will inspire you to
keep going when it's tough on the body and tough on the
mind.
Ask around and find a trainer who can sort out a good
program for you that will help to strengthen the right
muscles. They can help to keep you motivated and although
it may be expensive, it will keep your mind focussed! The
more people you tell, the less you'll want to admit defeat!
Most of us need some help and exercise even when we start
playing after the winter. In addition, each year we're
older and we get aches and pains and stiffness in our
joints coupled with a general loss of flexibility. Even if
we're totally fit, we still fall into bad habits which we
only recognise when we find we've lost some of our power
and distance. Most of us also suffer from a bit of
arthritis and the right exercise will greatly help. The
important thing is to keep up with any program - keep
motivated!
